“Cooperation between cultural institutes can be a spring board for finding new talents among children and new adults and promoting their development and education,” says Mohammad Khajepour, the editor-in-chief of Afsaneh.

IIDCYA, or as it better known “Kanoon”, is a governmental and nation-wide institution with numerous branches all over the country, promoting a wide range of cultural and artistic activities in the field of mental and cultural development of children and young adults.

Three years ago the Institute opened up its branch in Gerash. To this day, it has 121 members between 7 to 17 years of age. Roya Tavakkoli is the manager and trainer of the institute; and Zeinab Kouzli helps her in training and managing the cultural activities and tours. The Institute offers diverse activities to its members, such as reading, poetry reading, introduction of books and national characters, journalism, creative theater, films, handiwork, telling tales, pottery, painting, calligraphy, and Islamic activities. “In special occasions like National Book Week or the Glorious Ten Days (“Daheye Fajr”), we try to cooperate with schools and other educational institutes,” says Tavakkoli, the manager of Kanoon.
